It took a month to come up with this?
The digital camera I bought last week arrived on our front porch yesterday. Expect to see many pictures of our birds. And the garden. Maybe.

Actually, one of the things I want to do first is a house tour. There are a lot of people who have never seen our house that I would love to have visit, but I guess this would be the next best thing. I already know it’s going to be a huge pain in the ass, but it’ll be worth it. It better be, anyway.

Actually, some of the people who have never seen our house are immediate family. My parents have been here, but neither of my sisters has. One will be here this weekend, but probably sans her husband. The other will be working, since it’s Navy Ball weekend down there and she was unable to get the time off. At this point, 36 hours or so until they arrive, I have no idea if the baby is coming with Mom and Dad. I’d love to see her, especially since she’s crawling and cruising now (she wasn’t when I saw her right before New Year’s). Besides, now that she’s big enough to have a personality, Lee doesn’t mind interacting with her so much. Never a bad thing, in my book.

My five year college reunion is coming up. I don’t know if I’m going to go. This is partly because it’s a very long drive now to get there, and partly because I don’t know who else is going to be there from my class. Two of my best friends will have infants at that time, one of whom lives as far away from Spartanburg as I do, and another close friend now lives several time zones away and may not be able to be there. And as much as I’d love to see what sorts of changes have occurred to my beloved campus, I’m not sure if I want to see them without being surrounded by the people I was surrounded with at the time.

I spoke briefly with one of my college professors last week, actually. It was the first time we’d spoken in couple years, I think. Long enough that he’d forgotten we’d moved. A long conversation wasn’t possible at the time, but I might try to get in touch with him again. I didn’t get enough dirt on what’s going on behind the scenes the first time.

I googled for Good Eats and Alton Brown yesterday, and I was amazed that there were about 15 pages of links. Once upon a time ago, there was one. I’ve been watching nearly since the beginning (season two began just a few weeks after I was hooked) and I’ve been pleased to watch how the fan base grow. And I was lucky enough to get a signed salt cellar when they went on sale at his web site. Though they never charged me for it. I better send an email, since there were a lot of problems with that whole scenario.

Lee bought me a pasta machine attachment for my KitchenAid mixer for Christmas. Man, oh man, fresh pasta is a revelation. I’ve made it several times, and it just keeps getting better (mostly as I get better at mixing the dough). That’s what’s on the menu this weekend for those people related to me: Potato and chive tortelloni dressed with brown butter and sage. Yum. I just have to find the chives. Darn grocery stores.
