2:24 p.m. - 21 February 2002 I have ended up sick every time I've seen her. I'm not sure if this means that she's a crawling breeding ground for germs, or if it means I have the weakest immune system known to humanity. I suspect it's a little of both. Sigh. I attempted to download the pictures I took this weekend from the digital cameral last night. It didn't go very well. If my left eye wasn't nearly swollen shut and full of crusties, I might try again this evening. Then again, figure skating is on. Lee can't wait for the Olympics to be over. He says he'll watch them when they make football an Olympic sport. I keep telling him that's not likely, since we're pretty much the only country in the world that plays football with NFL rules. He points out the existence of NFL Europe. I say that doesn't count, since some big percentage of players come from the regular NFL. It's an ongoing debate. It's almost time for my next eyedrop. I can tell because it's getting harder and harder to see out of my left eye. The PA I saw this morning asked me to read something using just that eye. Without my glasses on. I looked at him and said "I wouldn't be able to read that with a perfectly healthy eye." He let me put my glasses on after that. I also got the "diabetes runs in your family, you're overweight and if you start eating right and exercising six days a week you can delay it" speech. I know all these things already. I've known I was fat for a long time (first clue? When you have to look in the "special sizes" departments for clothes) since that also runs in my family. But in the last few years I've discovered that I really love cooking. And now I can't cook what I want to? Doesn't exactly make me want to run out and get with the program. I was specifically told to cut way back on "white stuff": pasta, potatoes, rice, and bread being the biggies. What did I cook for my family last weeken? Potato and chive filled tortellini dressed with brown butter and sage, salad (from a bag), and breadsticks (from a box -- I can't do everything from scratch, you know). This on top of Lee being given basically the same speech last week. Sigh. I see big changes in the near future, whether I want them or not.
