L is for Laughter
L is for Laughter and Lee

I cannot imagine a day without laughter. It would be like a day without eating, or breathing, or anything else vital to existence. So it's a good thing that I married someone who can consistently make me laugh.

Lee's sense of humor was one of the very first things that I found attractive about him. We were both cashiers in a grocery store, and it was either laugh or go insane from the incredibly stuffy customers, and he kept me sane that whole summer. Since he'd been there for a lot longer than I had, he also helped me with some of the details of the job -- he knew all the produce codes, and could help me remember which vegetables were sold by count and which were sold by weight (of course, the store went to universal PLUs the next summer, so I had to learn them all over again).

He still makes me laugh just about every day, whether via email or with a phone call or a simple tickle session (although since that's how he chipped my tooth, I think he'll refrain from that particular method for a little while). He loves to send me the stories from the "News of the Weird," but he almost always adds a funny tagline. Heck, sometimes his taglines are better than the stories themselves, but not always.

We may not have the same political views (our votes almost always cancel each other out), or the same taste in pop culture (I watch Buffy and CSI; he sticks to Fox News), but laughter has always been there. I knew we had problems when we weren't laughing, and I knew we were healing when we started laughing again.

I hope we never stop laughing again.

This has been an entry for AlphaBytes. I'm working my way through the alphabet backwards just because we can.
