- 29 March 2001 On the other hand, Lee went grocery shopping last night, so I didn't have to do that. He came home and brought me drugs: handed me two pills and a cup of water and said "Take these." It wasn't until after I'd taken them that I found out they were NyQuil capsules. Since it was only about 6 when I took them, I drifted in and out of consciousness most of the evening. The only time I really woke up was when, being the darling that he is, Lee brought me some chicken soup. I woke up for good around 9:30 or so, but I wasn't up for long. This morning, Lee got up when he usually does, around 7:15 or so, and took a shower. He brought me some breakfast, and was getting dressed and all those other fun morning rituals. At 7:39am, when he mentioned getting to work early, I looked at the clock and swore. I had to be at work at 8 rather than my usual 8:30 this morning. It's been a long time since I got ready quite so quickly. Lee was impressed, actually. And yes, I did make it. So why did I have to be in early? The hospital requires us to have a certain number of continuing education hours every year. One course is required: Guest Relations. That's where I was at 8am, trying not to breathe on anybody. It worked out that the group I was in contained two people from Lee's department, and someone with whom I went through the first orientation. She and I actually started work on the same day. Starting Monday, we'll be able to get paid for taking days off. No, I won't be paid for taking yesterday. I won't be paid for the hours I left work last Thursday, either. But I think those two days will be on separate paychecks, which will help us in our house-hunting adventures. Those will continue this weekend, assuming we're not still comatose from various drug combinations. Speaking of which, it's time for my next dose.
