F is for Follow-Through

So here it is, the last day of March, and I've still got five letters left. I have every intention of finishing this, I really do, but as usual, my enthusiasm for a project started off strong and sort of petered out at the end.

I did have some genuine obstacles: my computer was dead for almost a week, and I have a hard time getting comfortable enough with the laptop to type; the weather finally got nice enough to spend some time outside taking care of the garden; and I started my new job today. Granted, I also putzed around with my Harry Potter fanfic (you mean not everyone reformats the html chapters into one Word document, complete with links to the art?) and did other non-computer related things, but I could have gotten the entries written if I'd really wanted to.

It's the story of my life, though, really. That doesn't mean I'm proud of it, however. Much of the internal scolding that I do revolves around projects and things that I let go undone. I'm an instant gratification junkie, so if it doesn't happen RIGHT NOW, I'm not terribly interested. This is a large factor in my size (pun sort of halfway intended): I can't get skinny tomorrow, so why put forth the effort in changing my eating habits and/or exercising? Intellectually, I know that things have got to change, or the children I long for may never happen. But knowing something is true and doing something about it are two very different things.

This has been an entry for AlphaBytes. I'm working my way through the alphabet backwards just because I can.
