Vacations and babies
The cable man came on Monday and broke my heart.

We decided not to keep the cable modem. It just didn't work out for online gaming, which is what Lee does the most of online. Besides, we'll probably be moving in the next couple of months to somewhere that doesn't offer cable modems, so we'd have to get a dial-up account again. We've been very happy with the ISP we've got, and Lee didn't want to change logins, so the easiest thing to do was just remove the cable modem. Besides, we get our long distance bundled with our ISP charges, so it's basically free for us to call out of state. This is a good thing when your spouse will be traveling as much as mine will be soon.

He's going to Boston again later this month, for just a couple of days. In July, he's going for a week's worth of classes. But by leaving Saturday, he's saving the hospital a nice chunk of change which can then be applied to my airfare, so I'm going with him. For part of the time, anyway. We'll get there Saturday evening, and I'm leaving Tuesday morning. This way, I only have to take two days off from work. Plus, it's not long after my birthday, and we haven't taken a vacation together since we got married. Not one that was longer than a weekend, anyway.

He keeps talking about maybe taking a real vacation this fall, but I don't know. He can't decide where he wants to go. I'd love to go back to Disney World, but he's not particularly enthusiastic about the idea. I can't convince him that it's not wall-to-wall screaming children, which would drive him insane. There's also the not-insignificant matter of a Disney World vacation costing more than he's really willing to spend on a vacation. We'll go eventually, I guess. Even telling him that it was one of the best family vacations we ever had isn't swaying his mindset.

Lee is also convinced that we're supporting our soon-to-be-born niece/nephew. Even with what I've bought, it's not a drop in the bucket in the grand scheme of things. I think he's in for a rude awakening when we start trying for a family of our own.

So what did I buy, you ask? Well, a bunch of little things. What's going to take the most time are the onesies that I've decided to add some cross-stitching to. Luckily, they're onesies for a slightly older child, so if I'm not before s/he is born, they should still work. I don't feel like discussing the birth sampler for one of my Converse friends that is still not done, even though the child in question is now 18 months old. (I'm working on it, I promise).

I'll actually be headed to Mom and Dad's Mother's Day weekend for a shower. Should be interesting. I've been requested to make a strawberry swirl cheesecake for Mother's Day, since the one I made for my officemate's birthday went over very well. Darn shame I hate strawberries.
